What is it like to work in a sweatshop? What do structural adjustments really do? What it is like to live in a small country with an enormous external debt? Why can’t rural farmers make it anymore? Students will hear from locals who live with these issues everyday, and who speak from a variety of perspectives. Our staff includes several individuals involved in international economic development efforts, from creating sustainable tourism to developing long-term plans for managing protected areas. Your travel course or service learning course focusing on globalization or development will benefit from the involvement of these active development professionals on a local and international level, as well as the insights of academics involved in the critical evaluation of globalization and economic development. |
