Tropical Classroom Expeditions offers summer programs for Middle and High School students focusing on biology, ecology, and anthropology. Our programs offer classroom and experiential learning in a variety of settings, with a flexible curriculum and an international, bilingual staff. · Biology and Ecology in the Bay Islands of Honduras (8 and 14-day programs) This program introduces students to the marine and terrestrial life in the beautiful Bay Islands of Honduras. Students explore marine life along the second-largest reef system in the world as well the ecosystem on the island, including indigenous animal life as well as human impacts on the ecosystem. Students will engage in a variety of field and lab activities, including such things as conducting biological inventories, water quality testing, and · Tropical Ecology of the Honduran Rainforest (8 and 14-day programs) This program explores the complex interactions that take place in the rainforest, from the flora and fauna of the jungle to the river and marine systems to the impact of humans on the rain forest in the past and the present. Students stay in jungle villages along the coast and major rivers of eastern Honduras, exploring both pristine and severely impacts areas of rainforest. Neighboring ecosystems, including savannahs and mangrove swamps will also be visited. Our programs for middle and high-school students include more structure and supervision than programs for university students while allowing students flexibility and plenty of time to reflect on their experiences.
